Linda (Slade) Byrne was born in Kingwell and resettled to Arnold's Cove in the mid 1960’s. As a teenager she had a keen interest in learning songs, particularly traditional ballads. She recorded many of the older folks singing in the old style and she continues to sing them at folk festivals, song circles and such gatherings.
